Another Historic First for BBMC Artists

BBMC artists, led by JE Solo, have been working with teams of programmers to create NPCs (Non-Player Characters) inside of NEOS VR who think using a quantum computer. This week, many months of work have been paying off as JE Solo tests the quantum programming of their NPC for the first time.

JE Solo has created a virtual poet NPC (Non-Player Character) who writes poetry in the style of JE Solo’s lyrics. Users create short phrases by making choices on a dropdown interface. The phrases are sent to D-Wave’s Quantum computer to be sorted. The QPU determines the line of JE’s lyric that best matches the input from the user. Then – using AI and machine learning programs, including TensorFlow and GPT-3, the Interface uses the best line of JE’s lyric as a prompt to create a new, original poem. This poem is then sent back into the VR NEOS environment where it is presented to the user as a piece of text and a piece of audio.

JE has been working with Alex Khan on the programming for the Quantum Computer. As well, the Quantum NPC project has been collaborating since the beginning with Alex Khan, Clark Alexander, and Jeffrey Cohen, of Chicago Quantum.

The LogiX Programming happening inside of the VR World of NEOS VR is being overseen by ViaRsSys, with Jerad Bitner as the LogiX Team Leader and Interface designer; Lucas Rosetti as LogiX programmer, and technical support; and Guillermo Valle Perez as LogiX programmer and GPT-3 wrangler.

A public presentation of this work is coming in December in NEOS VR and via live streams and other portals. Here is a picture of the historic moment when the BBMC’s JE Solo became the first known artist in history to connect a Virtual Entity inside of a Social VR world to a Quantum Computer. Present for the event, via Zoom and/or VR – JE Solo, Jeremy Turner, Alex Khan, Jerad Bitner, Lucas Rosetti, Guilermo Valle Perez.
